The founding assembly of the Croatian Association of Professionals in Nature and Environment Protection (HUSZPO) was held on March 10, 2004.

HUSZPO is a non-governmental, non-profitable organisation that is active on the whole territory of the Republic of Croatia. Its seat is in Zagreb.

HUSZPO is funded from membership fees, donations, gifts, cessions, legacies, economic activities, local governments' budgets, the central budget and other legal sources.

The funds raised can be used exclusively for the purpose of achieving the goals of the Association.

The Board of Administration decides on how the funds will be used.

Structure

The Board of Administration and the Assembly are the administrative bodies of HUSZPO.

The Assembly is the supreme administrative body. It comprises all HUSZPO members. Its president is appointed for the period of 4 years. At present, the President is Mr. Nenad Mikulić, nenad.mikulic@mzopu.hr 

The Board of Administration is the executive body of the Association and the supreme administrative body between two meetings of the Assembly. It has 7 members, who are elected by the Assembly for the period of 4 years. The President of the Board of Administration organizes and manages the HUSZPO activities. He or she represents HUSZPO and is liable for its activities. The President of the Board of Administration is appointed for the period of 4 years. At present, the President is Mr. Damir Subašić, damir.subasic@apo.hr.

In order to achieve its goals HUSZPO organises its activities in seven sections:

  • Section for Consultants – Individuals; Mr. Damir Subašić
  • Section for Waste Management; IPZ Uniprojekt MCF, Mr. Danko Fundurulja
  • Section for Environmental Monitoring; OIKON, Mr. Dalibor Hatić
  • Section for EIS; IGH, Mr. Andrino Petković
  • Section for Air Protection; Mr. Tadenko Tabain
  • Section for Nature Protection; Mr. Ivan Martinić
  • Section for Water and Sea Protection; IND-EKO, Mr. Ilija Šmitran

Membership

Members to the Association can be individuals or organisations that are represented by authorized agents. 

Application for membership is submitted to the Board of Administration, who make a decision based on the key criterion of the applicant being professional in the line of nature and environment protection, i.e. having the field of nature and environment protection as the primary source of income. The decision on the membership is taken unanimously in a secret ballot.

42 organisations and 3 individuals are full members to the Association.

Following a proposal by the Board of Administration the Assembly can accept honorary members to the Association.

Vision and Mission

A primary purpose of HUSZPO is to provide an institutional forum for coordinating, advocating and advancing the interests of the profession. 

HUSZPO exists to promote and protect the dignity of the profession.

HUSZPO seeks to promote professional quality assurance by encouraging implementation of the professional code of conduct as well as training of nature and environment protection and public understanding of the field.

HUSZPO believes that support to research and education in the multidisciplinary field of nature and environment protection results in an enhanced quality of professional standards and practices based on the principles of equitable and sustainable development. 

The Croatian Association of Professionals in Nature and Environment Protection cooperates with similar national and international organisations.

By accomplishing its mission HUSZPO hopes to become a professional and ultimately a chamber-like organisation.
